Integrity Firestop Systems was appointed to deliver specialist passive fire protection works as part of a comprehensive fire safety improvement programme across healthcare facilities within the Anuerin Bevan Healthboard Health Board estate.
The project formed part of an ongoing commitment to improving life safety, strengthening compartmentation, and ensuring compliance with current fire safety regulations across occupied healthcare environments. Working within live hospitals and clinical settings required a carefully planned approach that prioritised patient safety, operational continuity, and minimal disruption to essential healthcare services.
Healthcare facilities present unique challenges when delivering passive fire protection works. Unlike conventional buildings, hospitals and medical centres often operate around the clock, accommodate vulnerable occupants, and rely on phased evacuation procedures rather than immediate building evacuation. Effective compartmentation therefore plays a critical role in protecting patients, staff, and visitors by limiting the spread of fire and smoke and providing valuable time for safe evacuation and emergency response.
Working closely with estates teams, facilities managers, contractors, and project stakeholders, our team carried out detailed inspections and identified areas requiring fire stopping remediation and compartmentation improvements. Every stage of the programme was carefully coordinated to align with operational requirements and access restrictions within sensitive clinical environments.
The completed works significantly improved fire compartmentation throughout the healthcare estate, enhancing protection for patients, staff, and visitors while supporting operational continuity within critical healthcare environments.
The project was delivered safely, on programme, and with minimal disruption to day-to-day healthcare operations.
